 Since starting our business, we, Tokyo Marine Co., Ltd., have consistently been developing ourselves as an operator specialized in parcel tanker for deep sea trades of bulk liquid chemicals as well as oils and fats. During the course of various changes within the industry, we have come to establish a firm position as one of the most reliable, reputable and important carriers in the international parcel tanker industry.
We joined the group of Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. in April 1996 through their acquisition of interest in our company , and we have been running our business as a new member of the group in such a way to effect a synergy together with their Tanker Division since then. In May, 1999, we took over the whole business of Tokyo Chemical Tanker Co., Ltd. who had been known as one of major chemical tanker operator in Japan in the field of Asian short sea trade, whereby we entered decisively into the field of Asian short sea trade in addition to our already established deep sea business, and thus strengthened the overall competitive power of our group companies by combining both two trading areas. Philosophy of our company is "Where there is safety, there is prosperity", and as expressed , we do believe "safety" is of prime importance. We also place importance on "sincerity" whereby we have obtained confidence and reliability from our customers, and then on "profitability" for which we perform our task with maximum effort and efficiency with our selected qualified staff.
The chemical tanker industry is now more and more required to observe and comply with ever stricter safety and environmental regulations as well as charterers' voluntary
safety and cargo handling requirements for various sophisticated chemical products which need utmost care, and in addition, the industry is required to meet the charterers' needs for reducing the total cost of distributions of cargoes, therefore, only such operators who are eligible to meet all these requirements will survive.
